About the Speakers:
Leila D. Behjat
Leila D. Behjat is an architect and material ecologist with a passion for healthier, more sustainable building practices. As Director of Material Ecology at the Parsons Healthy Materials Lab in New York, she develops and curates innovative materials and design methods that demonstrate how buildings and spaces can be designed regeneratively and sustainably. She leads the Lab’s partnership with the New European Bauhaus initiative and is co-founder and managing director of Healthy Materials Lab EU gGmbH in Wiesbaden. Leila is a DGNB consultant and is convinced that good architecture is not only healthy but also an expression of our shared responsibility for the planet.
Alison Mears
Alison Mears is a certified AIA LEED AP Architect and heads the Healthy Materials Lab at Parsons The New School for Design in New York. She is co-founder of Healthy Materials Lab EU and Associate Professor of Architecture. Her international professional experience includes projects with Pei Cobb Freed & Partners Architects and Mitchell/Giurgola and Thorp Architects, including the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington D.C. and JFK Airport in New York. Alongside her teaching and research activities, she runs the architecture firm Paci+Mears Architects in Brooklyn.
